Title: LS Pro Duo - duplex failure or Upgrade
Post by: jetguat on February 17, 2015, 03:23:34 PM
I have a LS Pro Duo, it came with two 500GB disks.  I have it set up in RAID1 mode.  One of the disk failed awhile back, I replaced it.  Another disk failed.  I purchase two WD Red 1TB disks. and I'm trying to figure out how to get them to work in this NAS box.  Buffalo email support has not been helpful.  Basically "we dont support that" was the response to every question.  We dont support upgrade, we dont support duplex failures.

There most be a reasonable way to get both 1TB drives working in box.  I was told at one point there was a TFTP procedure posted but it was removed.    The purchase of these 1TB drives was a stopgap option until I can replace the whole LS Pro Duo with a larger more modern unit.  at that point I was going to reuse the 1TB drives in a 4 bay device.

thanks in advance for help and suggestions.  I will now continue to search through the forum archives.

TFTP still exist on the forums its just not pin'd, http://forums.buffalotech.com/index.php?topic=10185.45

Its true buffalo doesnt support in assisting in what you want but they should beable to tell you how. Tech just didnt want to go the extra mile probably, So use 1 drive. Do TFTP, and then forceupdate. If you have more question, or need better explaining let me know.

THanks.  I see you replied to one of my other posts.  I will follow this link and see if I can get one of the new 1TB red to TFTP correctly.  I am not sure was a forceupdate is, but I need to get past step #1 first.  I did stumble on most of the ftp links.  but I "think" for the link station Pro duo (LS-WTGL1E0)  http://www.nas-hilfe.de/downloadbereich/category/8-tftp-boot-recovery should work.  I looks like they have a v1 and a v3.  I have v1.01 installed now.  can I just use the v3?  or must I used the v1.08 listed?

You must us v1 if your unit is a v1. Check the model number on the unit. It should say. Also my bad on this but I got confused on what unit you have since there are 2 ls pro duos. If you have the older one.. red wd might not work. I would stick with regular drives. Also I wont go above 1TB for this old unit. This also applies to your other post.
