Title: How do I replace all drives in my LS-WL
Post by: mdbrowning on February 01, 2015, 10:08:25 AM
I have LS-WV4.0TL/R1 and one of the drives has gone bad.  I was running RAID 0, I want to just replace the 2T drives with 4T drives and setup RAID 1.  How do I get the Buffallo NAS LS-WVL to see the new drives?  The error LED just blinks RED 6 times over and over again.  The new 4T drives are not formatted yet.  Do I need to format them first?

Thanks for all your comments in advance

Doesn't RAID 0 combine the 2 drives and makes it one?  All data can be lost when one drive craps out. What message are you getting?  You should not have to format the first.

I have a similar problem.  I am told that the OS is on the drives and if you replace both drives, you have nothing but the 6 blinks.  Apparently, there is a hidden way to put the OS on a new drive but I haven't found it.

Ljmesq:

search for tftp, if you have the old drives still and there in working condition then there is a easier method. Let me know

Hi All,
I have the same issue (drive 2 failed, needs to be replaced) in a RAID 1 setup.  Want to replace 2x2TB with 2x3TB.
Drive one is healthy, how do I access the os and place in on the new (supported: WD30EZRX).
I am not very tech savvy, so the last post saying to find tftp, didn't make any sense to me?
Please help before drive 1 crashes also :-(
