Title: Web Access with Linkstation Live LS-CH 1.0TB
Post by: allsaxsteve on May 27, 2009, 08:17:18 PM

Having some issues with web access with my linkstation live.

When I am on my wi-fi network at home it all seems fine.

I can not log on to it from anywhere else.

Has is got anything to do with my router port forwarding settings?

Auto detect PORT did not work.

What port should I set it too? It is 9000 at the moment.

Cheers,

Steve

It is a Billion 7300g Router/Modem running OS X at home PC at work.

If you are able to access the device inside your network it definately sounds like a router port fowarding issue.  Port 9000 is the correct port that you need to have forwarded.  What you need to do is forward port 9000 to the internal IP address of your Linkstation, which can be found with the nas navigator.  After you do this correctly you will be able to access from outside of your network.  If you still cannot access it I would recommend contacting the maker of your router to make sure you did this correctly.

I remember setting up my router to port forward for my torrent client.

Maybe this is what is causing the issue.

Is it possible to forward more than one port?

Cheers,

Steve

Yes you can open many ports.  Ports are just holes in your firewall that allows communication to commence between two devices through the firewall.  This is why your web access wont work remotely until you forward the correct ports.
