Title: Pulsing power light on TeraStation 1TB Network Drive
Post by: RAS on May 27, 2009, 10:35:25 AM

I've had a 1TB TeraStation network drive on my home network for several years. It's worked flawlessly 'til now. Just this AM, I noticed the green power light is "pulsing" (going bright to dim, and back to bright) over the course of several seconds. The unit still seems to work fine.

What might this mean? Is the power supply about to crap out? Is it time to head to Frys and buy a new drive?

Can anyone provide info to put my mind at ease?

What Terastation do you have?  I need a model number and firmware version please.

False alarm. Somehow the disk sleep mode got enabled. I disabled this feature, and the indicator light is back to normal -- steady-state green light.

Not sure how the sleep mode state got changed, but all's well again. Regardless, I think I might pick up a second unit for redundancy purposes. Can't ever have enough back-ups, eh?

Thanks!
