Hi,
I bought two of these storages in January 2009. With both I have the same problems. They came with FAT32, which I didn't change. When copying data from my computer (ASUS notebook (WINDOWS MeDIA CENTER EDITION), dual core 1,6Ghz, 2Gb RAM) the copying freezes. Untill this there may have been copied 2 files to the storage.
I tried another computer (WINDOWS XP Professional) with the same result.
Next try was to fortmat the storage with NTFS and partitioned (2x500GB). This work and copying in an almost appropriate speed was possible. But, when looking in the system log a failure appeard permanently: driver found controllerfailure in \devive\harddisk2\ gefunden. This does not feel good.
Another thing is, that the FAT32 formated disk works in the safe-mode of windows.
Is there a chance to get the storages work proper? I don't want to loose my data.

Hallo,
can't do this, because i still got guaranty. So I'll try to return them and hopefully there be no trouble with the new ones.
Thanks so far.

Hallo,
Updating of firmware does not void the warranty!!!
Returning of your current unit does not mean that Buffalo will transfer your data to the new unit.
