Title: LS-CH2.0TL-V2 2MB/s transfer speeds
Post by: Doggie52 on December 30, 2014, 11:54:17 AM
Hey!

I am having an issue with my LS-CH2.0TL. Transferring files from the NAS to a computer via regular Windows file sharing comes to around 2MB/s. Transferring files via FTP is done at around 4MB/s.

Here is what I have tried so far:

I am under the impression from other forum posters that I should be expecting speeds of between 20-40MB/s.

Any other tips would be greatly appreciated!

Check is your computer is currently user a 1Gbps link or 100Mbps Link or 10Mbps link. Also update to the latest firmware which is 1.69. For whatever reason the US site hasnt updated that but the rest of the buffalo sites have it at 1.69

See if that helps. Also reboot your router as well.

Heya -- thanks for the tip about the new firmware 1.69. Unfortunately, it did not make a difference to the transfer speeds. My computer is currently on 54Mbps WiFi so that shouldn't be an issue, I should at least be getting twice or three times what I'm seeing right now. I also tried using an ethernet cable (thus getting 100Mbps) without any luck.

I have rebooted the modem several times too without success. Any other ideas? I appreciate the help so far!

On a 54mbps wlan network you will only get 2-3MB/s transfer rate.

You sure about that? 54Mbps corresponds to somewhere around the 6-7 MB/s mark, doesn't it?

The theoretical speed is 6.75MBps but that is not the real world speed. In a perfect environment you can probably get 6MBps. But on a normal network you wont as you have to count for the lost of data during xfer, the overhead, the packet compression, etc..

Fair enough! I will look into this and see if I can test the speeds on an ethernet cable.
