I recently purchased a 1TB Linkstation Live, and forgot my password.
I've tried numerous suggestions which I've found in multiple forums to no avail.
Can someone please help?
I'm growing impatient with this unit, and beginning to regret this purchase.
How can resetting a password be so complicated to find out?
Please help.

You should just have to press down the reset (or init) button for a few seconds. Try holding it down for like 10-15 seconds
I have a similar problem, and I have spend now already too much time on this. After a problem with backup job hanging and a reboot, the admin login to the webinterface suddenly did not work any more. I reset the device numerous times, no success. (red button at the back). I get a japanese interface, and when I try to login with the defaults, a Japanese message tells me ""User Name" or "Password" is wrong. I called tech suport, and they guided me through the firmware upgrade process. Still the same problem. I can see the device with Nasnavigator, I can change the IP settings, but I still cannot login to the weadmin interface. I subsequently don't have any more access to the data that still resides on the device. I am very frustrated, and I have seen now numerous message threads that reflect similar issues. Can anyone help?
Jurgen,Give me the full model number of your unit. Did you purchase it in the US? Does it appear that the unit is successfully resetting?
The Model Number is HS-DH1000GL. Yes, it seems to reset when I press the red button on the back. (several short beeps.) It gets a new random IP address, it does not default to the one specified in the manual. I bought it in the US.

After the full model number there should be a dash followed by two letters (US, AP ect.) and you said that you did purchase it in the US?
It says HS-DH US in the lower-left corner, and I bought it at buy.com or Amazon in the US. I am located in the Bay Area.
Try the force update procedure with the option to "delete user configuration data" checked
I have the same problem. Can't login and get the Japanese page! Were you able to fix it?
