Title: TS-RIGL / R5 reconfigured as NAS?
Post by: Steven69 on May 18, 2009, 11:57:33 AM

Hi

I bought that iSCSI Box for a customer project that's not going on.

Now i would like to use it for our company backups but only as "normal" NAS.

Is it possible, to reconfigure the Box, so that I don't have to use the iSCSI way and the Users can do a direct connect from Windows?

Greetz

Steven

It does not make sense having a iSCSI and NAS combined because it is a NOR. Means you can use only one. Therefore the machines are dedicated. The iSCSI is a dedicated iSCSI and it is not possible to use it as a NAS.

Hi

i don't want to use iSCSI an NAS combined on the device but only NAS.

Maybe it's possible to flash the iSCSI Box into a NAS Box?

Theoratically yes. But it's against the warranty thing and you lose it if you do and it fails.

And according the board rules here it is not supposed a toppic here. Its a Buffalo board, so fair enough......
