Title: Formatting LS-CH1
Post by: Evilwheato on May 17, 2009, 02:04:13 AM

I may not have looked hard enough, but I can't find a way to format my Linkstation LS-CH1 1TB.

I initially had the problem where I was unable "check"  the disk. When I tried to do so "Disk 1" (in Disk Management- Disk Check)was greyed out. I have since erased the disk (which took almost 40 hours) and forced the firmware to  1.07.65(?- the one on the website). This has solved the problem.

However, when I now come to format the disk (I'm currently trying to connect it to a WD HD TV media box) I can't select the file system I want (the option is greyed out). I don't know of any other way of formatting it than the web interface. I tried plugging it into Windows and that obviously didn't work xD

It's currently just plugged into my router with a Dynamic IP Address (same subnet).

Can someone help? There isn't any in the User Guide about formatting, and searching on here or Google doesn't bring up anything useful :(

The internal drive in any Linkstation is in XFS format. That is the native format that it reads and writes in, it cannot be changed. It uses the Samba protocol to be Windows and Apple network compatible.
