In light of the response to my previous thread Auto-Power On, Linkstation Live via Wi-FI and having now used the power management features as an alternative I have noticed the following issue and would like to suggest a couple of simple improvements.
1. The hour menu ranges from 0 - 27 firstly this is a terrible way to implement dates as it is inherently confusing and secondly it means that there is an effective cut-off of 3.45am for powering up/down. I can honestly say I would have received a very strong rebuke (if not sacked) if I had shipped date code with an hour range up to 27 to any of our customers as at best it looks amateurish and at worst incompetent (although it would have never got past our initial testing department in the first place). Implementing correct date checking within the usual 24 hours bounds i.e. 0:00 - 23:00 is fairly straight forward, widely implemented already and easy to understand whilst giving maximum flexibility to the user.
2. It would be good if the power management settings had an option that allowed them to work in conjunction with the current auto-on functionality. i.e. If i turn on my wired PC during a powered of period if it detects the WOL packets and this option is set it would power on the linkstation .
3. Currently there are three usage windows would it be possible to increase this to five so that you could say have one setting for Monday - Thursday and different settings for Friday, Saturday and Sunday or other such combinations.
The first point is an egregious error and really needs to be fixed, the others are suggestions for improving the feature. Obviously the latter two points would be less important if the Wake-On-LAN over wi-fi problem is solved.
If you could pass these points on to othe development team it would be appreciated.
