Title: Problem with Drivestation HD-HB250U2 on OS X 10.5.7
Post by: Jungle on May 15, 2009, 04:58:24 AM

There seems to be a problem with the above external USB drive when operating with the latest incarnation of OS X (10.5.7). I have used this drive happily for the past 2 years on an OSX machine but, after applying the latest update, can't see the drive. It still works on other (not updated) Macs.

There's a ton of stuff appearing on Apple's forums about this but it seems to say the problem lies with Buffalo.

Any ideas?

I've got exactly the same issue. Like you say there is loads of stuff around on the Apple Discussions but there doesn't seem to be a fix as yet. I'm just going to keep my eyes peeled and hope that something comes out soon. If anyone else knows something give us a shout!

Thanks

I just got an e-mail from a Buffalo Tech Support about this issue.  Sounds like it might be a while before we get a fix:

"I'm afraid that the problem is something that we are currently working with
engineers to get a firmware update for, But as it stands, it would seem to be
a problem with 10.5.7 exclusively, so there might be a little bit of a wait
for a fix."

I sent them an email as soon as the issue started happening and this is what they sent back.

"Thank you for your e-mail however with these unit we only offer support on Windows Operating system and not MAC's. Unfortunately we cannot offer a solution for your issue.

Sorry for the inconvenience,

David

Seems like we're getting a mix of replies. It is getting a little frustrating now and would be nice to have a quick simple fix, as time goes on that is looking less and less likely.
