Title: Empty Buffalo Terastaion Pro II Problems (Installing Drives)
Post by: shiny on May 14, 2009, 03:59:37 PM

I recently got an empty terastation (http://www.buffalotech.com/products/network-storage/terastation/terastation-pro-ii/) on adverts and I have
been having problems getting it running.

I am aware that there needs to be some sort of kernel on
the drives before it will work correctly but I have spent
ages trying to get this thing working. Things attempted:

Force Firmware (http://www.buffalotech.com/knowledgebase/users/kb.php?id=10142&category_id=3&sid2=)
Update Firmware (http://forums.buffalotech.com/buffalo/board/message?board.id=0101&thread.id=853&view=by_date_ascending&page=1)
Manually Add Firmware and Partitions in Ubuntu (http://forum.buffalo.nas-central.org/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=3641)

This is as far as i can get:

I currently have a 400gig Sata drive which I am trying to
get working before adding additional drives.

Is there something obvious I am missing???:(

Sorry I don't have an answer, but when I bought a TS-Pro II with no drives, I had four drives waiting from an upgrade with my other TS-Pro IIEach drive has a bunch of partitions on them specific to the TS, so other than doing a Linux Guru move, I am not sure how you would go about thatThe buffalo guys usually chime in and say you will void your warranty and they can't guarantee anything, but you have nothing to void or guaranteeWell, you have a reply, but not the one you want.
