Hi All,
Sorry for yet another "I forgot my password" post!
I've recently got a LS-W1.0TGL/R1-EU running firmware V3.09. After configuring various shares and loading it full of data I decided it was probably a good idea to change the admin password.
I changed the password and then logged out and back in to make sure the process was successful. Now either I forgot my password in the 15s it took to get back to the login screen (fairly likley) or something went wrong! Either way I can't log back in with the new or old passwords.

The manual suggests holding the function for 6s while switching the unit on. Unfortunatley this doesn't seem to do anything, though I do get the blue flashing light as described.
A fairly hefty amount of googling points to dead links for either using 'EM' mode or a TFTP boot.

I know the unit is fairly elderly, but does anybody out there know a fix for this?

Try this to get the unit in EM Mode. I shorten it for you

LinkStation (LS-WTGL)
NOTE: The FUNCTION button for the LS-WTGL is on the back.

Make sure that your NAS is powered off
Hold down the FUNC/FUNCTION button for at least 6 seconds before powering the NAS on
While continuing to hold down the FUNC/FUNCTION button power the NAS on
At this point it varies for these units so please read carefully:

The POWER light on the front of the unit will begin blinking blue rapidly at which point you may release the FUNC button. The POWER light should turn green in approximately 60 seconds

Once the NAS shows up on the NAS Navigator you may attempt to access your data or re-flash the firmware
