Title: LS-CHL 1TB Firmware 1.07 Torrent Client doesn't work properly
Post by: bevilacp on May 10, 2009, 12:09:45 PM
I've extensively read all threads and so called "accepted solutions" about this topic and I believe the issue is not solved.

The Torrent Client works only for very few seeds, I still don't undetsand which ones. It looks like 1 seed out of 50 works. All the others remain in the same status: 0 seeds, 0 peers and the status never changes. I've obviously checked the same seed with a Torrent Client installed on my pc and dowloading starts almost instantaneosly.

Is there a solution or I simply need to accets that the Torrent Client on this product doesn't really work ?

Thanks

PS: I've already reflashed twice firmware and changed the target folder a few times

Hmm, never thought about. Sometimes I have to download the torrent file and start from there. Did you a manual prot forwarding or do you use UPnP for network on the router?

No UPnP, manual port forwarding, I've also tried to change port from the default/suggested one to another one but behaviour is the same.

Torrent files are first downloaded and then added

I think this problem may be similar to mine (see http://forums.buffalotech.com/buffalo/board/message?board.id=0101&thread.id=9763).

I find I can download perfectly, and it will even upload a downloaded file, but will not upload a file that I create myself, ie I cannot distribute my own work. By seeding simultaneously with Torrent software, I can see there is nothing wrong with the torrent file or the target file, and uTorrent detects many more peers than the Buffalo, which quite often sees zero peers and seeds, and sits there doing nothing whilst my Torrent software works perfectly.

Is that the same problem you have?

I don't think there is much doubt that the torrent function is very poor and IMHO not worth bothering with.

Nothing I've tried has worked, and sometimes, I've tried to start seeding and failed, deleted the torrent and tried again only to fail again, and then try a 3rd/4th/5th time only for it to work.

Spot on cecilhode, that's exately the problem.

But why do they not bother fixing the problem ?  I am going to write on a couple of forums about my experience with this product. It is a fraud selling a product to consumers advirtising it has a Torrent client implemented. Many people buy such a product with he idea of downloading files from the Internet with the PC swichted off, but this cannot happen because it either doesn't work or it is too slow because too few peers are detected. Buffalo you won't see me again!

I agree with all you say bevillacp

if you read my thread, the Mod has replied to say they've identified the problem and an update is due.

Thanks good, and credit to them for identifying the problem, but it shouldn't have been put on sale like that in the first place.
