I bought Model HD-CE640LU2 about one month ago.
But when I use this item through network then the speed is very slow.
It sometimes stoped working during copying, playing music, watching movie.
-----------
10 days ago just sent a email like below.. and that's it... they didn't response...
"BT Sales,
What speeds specifically are you seeing out of this? Also, is it connected to
a 10/100 network or is it gigabit?"
Apols if this is a stupid question - but I found myself in a similar position with my Linkstation HD500GL on my new build PC...
Are your network card drivers up to date on the PC?
Lately I'm reading a lot of these requests with connection problems of some kind. Asking a very indifferent question and being surprised about an indifferent answer? In the technical support they already employ some of the best magicians and fortune tellers. But it works only to some degree. So let's be real, he?
The point is that a network is a quite complex thing. And all factorcs can be more or less crucial for pinpointing the problem. But there is some structure in trouble shooting what is more or less the same.
1. OK, first find out what model (what you both did, thx) and the firmware version and the IP of the LS/TS and the client you use.
2. What does the NAS NAvigator tell you about the machine?
And now we shooting into the blue because what you do from here depends much on what you find. For instance it could be a EM mode, different IP ranges etc. But anyway, if that part is ok, you would roughly continue that way:
Do you use a router? What kind, Gb Ethernet or 10/100? Use another switch if possible, does it make a difference?
Do you use static IPs?
Is the behavior the same using DHCP or static IPs in the configuration of TS/LS and/or clients?
Does the problem occur if you use static IPs on TS/LS and using a direct connection from the device to the client?
Is the bahavior the same with all client devices or does it occur just on one? (then it starts with what NIC and drivers and compare clients etc)
If you have something with strong electro-magnetical emissions near by move the LinkStation about 1,5m away and try again.
Maybe some mod can refine it a little and provide it in FAQs...
And who has similar problems and who hasn't the slightest idea what I'm asking - get some help from someone who has.... saves time, trouble and frustration.
And after getting trough this, providing results and facts and you get no answer it is time to complain, but not here to some volontairs like me. I'm already sure what I will answer.
HD-CE640LU2 is connected with a router(D-link, DIR-625) which is support wireless ABGN and has 4 ports(RJ-45).
From the ports(RJ-45) of the router it connected with 3 Desktop computers. And 2 laptop computer use wireless of the Router.
However, when we use HD-CE640LU2 through wireless then frequently stoped working (copying, playing music, watching movie..etc)
But when we use other external HDD through wireless then there is no problem. only this HD-CE640LU2 makes problem.
I am a computer a technician in Korea. so I tried to fix this problems(change cables, change setting of the Router,...etc)
what's wrong?
Apologies, I should have expanded on my previous post :o
I had similar problems with my HD500GL on my new build x64 Vista PC.
My problem turned out to be a very old ethernet driver (that was shipped with the motherboard).
When I downloaded the latest driver (step goodness know how many after lots of other things I tried - d'oh!), everything started to work :)
My write speeds went from 37kbps to about 10Mbs :)
Obviously can't promise that a similar thing will fix the problem on this thread, but I would suggest it is one (of many) things to double check :)
Haha, I thought you still have the problem... Glad to hear you made good use of the thing between the ears
;-)
