I'd like to stream my music while at work. I can see the music... but I have to download one at a time??
No better integration? I can play mp3 by clicking each at a time through quicktime... But itunes in all it's glory gives me m4a files and the "audio" link bottom left does nada (even if trying to play mp3).
So, all this music, I can see it... So close...
???
Ok I am utterly confused... On the Linkstation box that I bought says that it is optimized for the Iphone.. Please help me as I am feeling as if there may be a case for misrepresentation or... ? I am having major issues with connectivity that I will try to sort out on my own - however before I spend valuable hours in this please be upfront with its limitations and any upcoming updates to resolve said "bounds".
Thank you,
there is lots of reasons why this item does not do what is says it will do,on the box.
it would be far easyer and less time consuming if they just told us what actually works ond what does not,and how to make it work,if it can
i cannot get my linkstation to stream over the internet ,in a web browser.
im getting the feeling that this is not possible.
if that is the case, then no problem,i can just use ftp server...but if thats the case, why have a webserver at all?
i am on day 3,and ive just found out about the existance of twonky, its a good job i didnt want dlna as there seems to be no info on that either!
Guys I am just a user like you guys not a mod or admin but here is what I know and trust me I have been banned from here 3 times and have had many aurguments with mods and even tech support on these items and nothing has come out of it.
Mods/Admin please dont boot me again, I am just explaining to these folks my issues and what I think are the issues of the LS. I might be completely wrong and I might come off rude but its what I feel. Please feel free to chime in and shed some light.
1. These forums are ran by mods/admin, they work for Buffalo but have no say in what happens to the LS, they are here to help as much as they can, but honestly there are things about these units they know nothing about. They do the best they can with what they know.
2. iPhone integration, just means that when you go to the web browser on the iphone you can see your files and play most of them. Its extremely slow and very un-userfriendly. Sometimes it works, sometimes it does. For a while there you had to have one folder that was anonymous, and then that went away now its back. So how its going to work is a guess to everyone. Would be nice to see thumbnails, would be nice ot pay some kid $500 to have an app made that worked instead of having to use the web browser.
3.Web access has too many restrictions and "when it works", its completely slow. I have a T1 connection at work and accessing my NAS at home from the office is like downloading porn on a 56k modem. At home I have the blazing 50mbps speed from Comcast, cat 6e wires and connectors, and a Gigabit router and using web access at home is just as bad. No the web access would be nicer if it were updated to the 2000s instead of what looks like a 1990 website.
4. USB transfer rates internally are ridiculous. I have a 2tb USB drive attached to the LS and it takes over 10 minutes to transfer a 4gb file. It doesnt take that long to download a 4gb file online. How about an eSata connection?
5. No MP4 support? how nice? MP4 is very common, instead it supports M4V?
6. Last but not least (Media Server), nice option if it were up to date. Seems Buffalo is too cheap to buy new licenses for its customers and has decided that a 3 yearl old version of Twonky is just fine even for its $1000 units. No problem, I will buy my own license and update it. Oh wait, we cant because Buffalo has decided that even though I own the unit and am willing to take the risk of briking it (since it will be thrown against a wall soon anyways), I cant access the LS via Telnet to install the latest version of twonky. Arghhhhh.
These are all my gripes. I was hoping that the latest firmware upgrade would have fixed most of these but appearantly it doesnt. It just fixes a bunch of stuff that most of us didnt even know were wrong.
