Title: New LinkStation LS421DE Initial Boot: 7 Red Flashes
Post by: zkhan on December 01, 2014, 10:21:56 PM
I just received my brand new LinkStation LS421DE (first time Buffalo user). I also received 2 new WD Red 3TB drives.

After following the instructions in the "For PC - Quick Setup Guide", when I power the unit on, the power LED flashes for a while and then the red LED flashes 7 times. Searching for 7 red flashes shows that this is not a good sign, but I'm surprised that this is happening with a brand new unit and drives.

Any ideas or have I just received a dud (NAS or hard drives)?

Sounds like a faulty flash, remove both the disks, reboot the NAS, if it doesn't automatically go into EM mode after 15 minutes then it's faulty.
