Title: Need to factory reset TS5200D
Post by: darkspyre0 on October 25, 2014, 04:27:45 PM
I have a TS5200D and I don't know the admin password on it.  I don't need the data on the drives, and i'm in the United States.  The device has Firmware: 2.12 on it, and has the Intel ATOM processor.

Go to http://www.buffalotech.com/products/network-storage/professional-and-business-class/terastation-5200-1 and go to the downloads tab. Find a download called "Bootable USB recovery image for TS5000 series" and click on "Serial Number Required"  enter your s/n and then download the file.

I dont remember if there is a file in the compress folder that explains how to use it. There should be. If anything when i get home ill provide more information on it.

Hi Joma,

I also need to get hold of a USB recovery image for a TS5200D, however my quest is somewhat more complicated :(

I am located in the UK and as such, the serial number of my NAS is not recognised on the US support site.
For some reason, the UK (euro) support site does not seem to have the recovery files available for download, in any shape or form!

I have just spent 30 minutes on hold for the support desk to try and find out where I can get an image from but gave up after not getting anyone to pick up the phone.

Is there any way you know of that I can get hold of an image so I can get my NAS back up and running again?
Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks :)

There are 2 ways you can do this. Call buffalotech support for US. tell them you need a spoof serial to download the usb recovery image for a TS5200D. There going to ask why. State no other downloads for other countries have them except USA and EU. You bought your unit in EU yet your S/N isnt working. They should help you from there. If not... Saturday Ill go to my rack closet and get the S/N off one of my units and to help you.

Hi,

I have the same problem as SkySurfer: need a USB recovery image for a TS5200 in the UK, but this file is not available on the Buffalo UK site.

Can I simply get hold of a US serial number and download the file from the US site? If so, can anyone help with a serial no?

I run a children's charity and the TS5200 was donated to us, but with no documentation.

Thanks for any assistance anyone can provide.
