Terastation 3400R
I have it configured as an iSCSI device and it works great!
Until the power went out over the weekend!
Is there no way to have this device restart/power on automatically after a power failure????
We have this in a server room that is remote and we need to have multiple devices -- will we have to have someone press the power button every time the power goes down??
Please advise.
Go buy a UPS. :D, if anything and you dont want to do that though i HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT. The TS5000 series has a bios option but i dont know if the TS3000 does. You will have to get a usb and mouse and monitor and hook it up to the unit. Power it on and see.
Our UPS lasted 4 hours in the last power outage, but then the systems had to shut down because it was running out.
The Terastation was the only system not to restart.
How do I connect a VGA monitor to the system? Can you suggest a model?
All of our Dell and HP systems shut down gracefully when the UPS tells them it is running down and then turn back on when the power comes back up.
Does anyone else not have this issue? I cannot see why anyone would use this product in a production environment if it cannot be configured to power on after a power failure.
My bad, remember i dont have one and i thought the front was a vga but its a serial. Not sure why this unit has 2 serials. You can configure them in the systems UI but you need to either have the UPS connect to the unit via serial or usb. Depending on the model of the UPS. The manual will explain the settings and what not. Link below. Since there is no vga port there is no way to hook up a monitor.

I called tech support and the solution is that the unit has to be connected to a compatible UPS.
The UPS tells the TS to shut down, and if the UPS returns to AC power, it causes the TS to auto power on.
We have a UPS in our facility, but it is not a compatible model. We will be putting in a small unit for this TS unit.
Auto power on (or last state) is a feature of TeraStations with Intel processors, the TS3400 has a Marvell Processor and the BIOS for that system is different, and not user configurable. Also, there is no VGA port on TS3400. (Without a BIOS you don't need one)
