Title: New to Buffalo products --HELP--
Post by: uncluesteve on October 16, 2014, 09:26:14 AM
I am looking at buying (2) Buffalo TeraStations 5400 WSS units to provide a disaster recover solution from my office.  One On-site to backup (2) Windows Server 2012r2 servers and one Off-site to provide disaster recover.  I have been looking at the Product datasheet http://www.buffalotech.com/content/files/products/WS5400D_DS.pdf (http://www.buffalotech.com/content/files/products/WS5400D_DS.pdf) and can't figure out how this unit is providing "Real-time synchronous replication of data"  Can anyone let me know?

All TeraStatoins have a replication function that can be used to replicate data to another TeraStation. In the case of Windows based units there is custom Buffalo software installed to handle this function.

Where is this custom software documented?

Instructions for use will be in the user guides for each unit. I'm not sure I understand the question. On standard TeraStations the replication feature is part of the OS. On WSS units there is a program group called "Buffalo Tools" to provide the Buffalo specific features and make the unit compatible with other Buffalo systems.

Just like Texturtle said its all documented in the manual for the units. Just incase you didnt get what he meant.

Manual - http://manual.buffalo.jp/buf-doc/35020065-05_EN.pdf

Go to page 21. i would read the manual for the wss as it can help you will software questions pretty good.
