E17 is a controller error, if anything i would contact the support and see if it is warranty still.. you can install the newest firmware to see if that fixes the issues i believe there at 1.68. sometimes the firmware can get corrupted and start giving out false errors. Doesn't really happen but i have seen it a few times.

Cheers for the suggestion I have tried the update and still have the controller error?

I have tried to find some warranty info but seem to be hitting a page that is not found....

Maybe there are some other suggestions out there?

It seems to be working properly I think but need more info...

This error was not there before I put a new drive in so im assuming it is something to do with that but the raid array has set up ok from what I can see?

Many thanks

Your warranty ends one year from purchase date. I would have a back up of the data just incase, and see how the unit goes. There is a chance that the new drive is causing the issue. But i never seen that before.

With all due respect.

This is a dual drive network station that i have purchased to back the data up.

Are there any official responses here? or is there a service center? or is it time just to buy a new unit? not particularly impressed as it is only about 2 years old.

maybe even some links to official support?

http://buffalotech.com/select-your-region

find your number, call your support,

In Honest opinion the warranty is a 1 so the unit is expected to last a year, if any issues happen with the unit, buffalo will take care of it. Anytime you see a warranty, that is usually the life expectancy. after that the unit is no expected to maintain its 100% running capability. this is how the world works. There new units have a longer warranty now but as for this one. Its 1 year, keep in mind this is usa warranty, if you did not buy it from the usa then i wouldn't know.

Thanks for the help.

We can close the thread as it seems to be clear now and the error light has gone out.

maybe the unit was checking the raid array... who knows.
