Title: migrating from blackarmor nas220 to buffalo?
Post by: ktmdsm on July 22, 2014, 10:59:10 AM
Is there a way to take the drives from a blackarmor nas220 and put them in a buffalo linkstation without having to completely reformat the drives?  I have two working drives that were in a raid 1 configuration that have about 1Tb of files on them and would like to just move them from a non-working nas220 to a working buffalo shell.  If worse comes to worse I guess I could always put the 2nd drive in the buffalo, get it set up, and then copy files from the first drive to the 2nd drive, then install the old master drive and get the raid 1 setup again but if there's any easier way to do this I would appreciate the information (since buffalo support won't respond to my emailed question about this very topic).  Of course, that being said, perhaps I should reconsider going with buffalo at all since their support seems to be slow in responding to questions.  Perhaps the forum(s) can convince me to continue with purchasing Buffalo...

There is no way to migrate the two existing drives from the other NAS to the buffalo without formatting them. You will need to backup the data before doing so.
