Title: Folder permissions for 2 users of domain group failing
Post by: michaelce on July 07, 2014, 03:29:09 PM
I have a TeraStation 7120r Enterprise (FW 2.10-0.14) that just lost folder permissions for only 2 users for most folders. This problem only seemed to happen after the NAS was configured for port trunking. The problem the two users have is making any changes to files/folders in the share they previously had no problems with. If they try to create a new folder on the share root it works just fine, only most the sub directories are affected, they also can't copy any files to the affected folders.

The error they receive is "You need permission to preform this action...You require permission from DOMAINNAME\username to make changed to this file". The DOMAINNAME\username is the user who originally created the folder inside the share. Even the user mentioned in this error does not have rights to make security/ownership changes to the folders, though they can still access the folders just fine (as well as many other users). Out of about the 10 people who have access to this share only 2 people are having problems just like this.

I have tried revoking and re-adding permissions via the web interface to the share, changing permissions on folders themselves and granting users specifically instead of the AD group we all reside in, none of which have worked. The only thing left to try is to remove the port trunking, though this would require configuring on the ports of the switch which I do not have access to at the moment.

This is stumping me since the only change that was made to the NAS was the trunking before the permissions thing happened. Also, is it possible to to dedicate NICs to a certain share? I was asked if this was possible and have not found anything about it leaving me to think that it is not possible.

I tried searching before making this post but could not find anything quite like the problem I was having. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

*EDIT* While I still don't believe the port trunking is the cause of the permissions issue it was changed from Round-Robin to XOR which cleared up an issue we had with accessing the NAS from different subnets. Still looking for what may have caused the permissions issue for the two users.
