Hi there!

I have used my workstation mini with only one PC and I use the Auto power feature (so the switch on the back is set to "Auto"). It has worked fine until now, i.e. the NAS powers up when I switch on the PC and powers down after a few minutes when I have switched off the PC.

The NAS is in my bedroom and yesterday at night, as I was about to fall asleep I heard it power on and the disks started spinning, I got up to take a look and the LED was blinking.

What can cause this? I went down to my study, checked the computer, and it was off (and it had been the whole day). My other devices do not access this NAS.

I thought maybe there is some task scheduled (maintenance, etc.), but I have never set up anything, and this hasn't happened before, so it is unlikely. I checked and went through all the functions and did not find anything.

I know this is far fetched, but would it be possible that someone was trying to hack into it? It's not like I have anything valuable on it (mainly family and holiday pictures and videos). If so, how did they get passed the router (I guess routers have embedded firewalls, right)? And how did they detect my NAS on my network if it was off?

I guess there is a more simple explanation. Does the Linkstation mini create a log of some kind? That might be useful.

I have a Linkstation mini (not a ministation). If I'm not mistaken the model is something like LS-WSXL.
