Hello First Post so hardware if first

PC : Athlon 64 3000 - 2 GHz 2GB ram

OS : XP SP3

Nas: HS-DH500GL firmware 2.10

Network - wired through 10/100 switch homeplug to Media Player

Media Player D-Link DSM510

In simple term I would like my media player to read file direct of the NAS withou have to turn pc and run twonky media manger. Can this be done?

My dlink can see the linkstation but can not read any songs / files directly

I have set PC cast and subnets but not set static ip's (yet - do I have to?), but I am wondering if some sort of software is required on the NAS. If this is the case how do I do it?

I have seen procedures to 'flash' / update firmware and force on twonky media server to NAS but it seems extreme (if not fun to try!), but what are the simplier options (other leaving on my pc all the time)

SHould be compatible. Do you see 2 media servers on LS in the list or just one? How ist it called?

The servers I see on the DSM510 are: Twonky: Study - the actual study pc which must be turn on HS-DHGLB56: link station (greyed out) when I try to contect it says --starting server-- the it show music file 0/0 Is there something basic I am forgetting to do (I image there is) Ian
