Hello all,
My LS-WX2.0TL/R1 is in EM mode. Not sure how it got to that mode! It had an error and I rebooted it and now its stuck in this EM mode.
Does this mean all my data is lost? Can anyone help getting it back?
Thanks!
Have you tried loading Nas Navigator 2 then clicking on the blue exclamation mark and seeing why it's saying it's on emergency mode?
Sounds line one of your drives could be on it's way out.
Yes. I have loaded Nas Nav 2 and theres a ? question mark over the drive which when i hover over says.... The EM mode was detected. Update firmware or contact you local technical support
Well this sounds like my post currently at the bottom of this thread http://forums.buffalotech.com/index.php?topic=19389.0
However I'm really dismayed that a raid 1 set-up would only have the firmware on one off the drives. I'd of expected the Nas would of said there's an issue on one of the drives and ask you to replace it.
Well I am using mine in normal mode, so does that look like i might have lost all my data? or is there a way to recover/fix?
It goes to in emergency mode of there is an issue. It sounds like if it's emergency mode and it's asking you to update the firmware the firmware is most likely corrupt. Have you tried updating the firmware?
If it still doesn't work after updating the firmware, follow my guide at the bottom of the post below.

So I updated the firmware and now I have an unformatted drive error so looks like I could be close to losing all the data!
My only option is to connect the drives to usb. I dont have a PC.. only a laptop so I need to get a cable to connect the sata drive to usb.
But I am struggling to find such a cable. See attached image of connection. Can anyone recommend a cable to use?

You need a SATA-USB cable, what RAID mode was set? RAID0 (default) or RAID1?
http://www.amazon.com/USB-SATA-5-25-Cable-Adapter/dp/B000YJBL78
I got one of them but the connection does not suit. If you look at the image, its a different connection i need that i cant seem to find.
It is set to RAID0
It is a standard SATA connection, nothing else. If you had it as RAID0 then you will need to mount both the HDDs at the same time. If you had a physical failed disk (which it looks like you had) the chances of recovering the data are slim -> none.
