Title: HDD doesn't respond to rescue harness SATA PS.
Post by: InterWestIT_Oregon on May 03, 2014, 02:52:38 PM
This is a 2 y/o LS-XLB56 -- 1Tb NAS ... HDD = Seagate Barracuda 2000GB

When the Buffalo Logic Board with ethernet port is attached and the native Buffalo Power Supply attached to that, the disk spins up.  Since the blue lamp flashes and doesn't stop -- the boot image is missing. (... or so I've been informed by phone support.)

When I remove the Logic Board to expose the SATA connectors on the HDD -- and then attach my SATA rescue harness SATA Power Supply --  the HDD does not spin up.

I'm confused.  I used this harness not too long ago on another disk.  So I don't *believe* it's the rescue harness SATA P/S.

Is anyone aware of "custom" power requirements for the Seagate Barracuda 2000GB?  I need a clue.

Confused!
