Title: TS-HTGL/R5 Updater problem
Post by: Roady on April 27, 2014, 09:30:42 AM
Hi guys

Another user with an updater problem! ;)

I've got a TS-HTGL/R5 here and I can't get the firmware to force update.

Got it without and HDD's, put 4x500GB into it and powered up, was greeted by a message regarding it missing boot information (hardly surprising as these are new and unformatted disks) and an E06 error. Also unable to ping/browse/see the TeraStation in NAS Navigator 2.

I've run through guidance in these FAQ's and TFTP booted it into EM mode, TeraStation is now showing in NAS Navigator:

So firing up the TS-HTGL Updater with the instructions to /force and Version Check = 0 and Debug = 1 Updater does see my NAS and selecting all Debug options (wipe user info & format disks) I'm then greeted by the following:

At no point has the Updater requested me to put the password in, so how do I force it to update without the password or how can I force it to prompt me for one?! Thanks :)

A follow up from my post above...

Installing the TS-HTGL_1.33_1.32 firmware BEFORE the TS-HTGL_1.35_1.39 firmware worked, might seem obvious but I assumed I could just force it to install 1.39 (as I had no idea what firmware was on the device).

So to reiterate (as the 'couldn't pass to authentication' error is misleading) - force install the 1.33/1.32 firmware FIRST, followed by the 1.35/1.39 firmware if (like me) you have had to TFTP/EM the device when installing new disks or have bought the device second hand without disks! :)
