Title: LS2.0VL Random Disconnects from Network
Post by: skyagade on April 23, 2014, 11:19:10 AM
After over two years of working fine, LS2.0VL is now randomly disconnecting from network. Manual reconnect with NAS Nav doesn't restore connection. I have to reboot Win 7 workstation to reconnect. Also file saving to NAS sometimes does not save latest/last version of file.
I don't know where to start troubleshooting this problem; I've read about updating firmware (which is current, v1.62), setting static IP (which I think I've done, but not sure), accessing logs, etc. but some is beyond my understanding.
Any elementary, beginning steps would be appreciated.

First backup data, then log into the web admin and click system - restore/erase - restore linkstation to factory defaults.

I think I've figured out what happening. Used another workstation (ethernet-connected desktop) without any disconnect problems. Went back to original workstation with disconnect problems (ethernet-docked laptop) and switched on wireless instead; worked all day without any disconnects. So I'm surmising that ethernet cable is/has gone bad. Will replace cable and try laptop ethernet connection again to make sure that's problem.
