Title: LS-XL not visible on network
Post by: drewburrett on April 21, 2014, 11:45:05 AM
The NAS is powered up and connected to router, which shows port connected on indicator panel and in status via admin tools.

Router admin doesn't show NAS as connected device.

NAS is not visible to any other connected network device.

Have repeatedly restarted both NAS and router, but problem persists.

I have no idea what I can do to fix this. :-(

Flashing Blue or solid blue light?

Flashing blue light, drive spinning constantly.

Seemed to be getting quite warm, too, so have switched off.

Flashing Blue means it is still booting. If it never boots (10 minutes at the worst case) then I would suspect a part of the hard drive that had the OS on it is bad. Likely you will need to replace it and restore from backup.

Does the drive make any unhealthy noises that sound like billiards balls clicking together, or a high pitched whine? That's generally a dead giveaway. Even if it does not, I've seen both silent and noisy ones fail to boot and not accept even a factory re-image, which is a catastrophic failure of the device.

If it is under warranty still, I would contact support to RMA it.

That was what I had feared.

Thanks for the information all the same.
