Title: Power Up Question
Post by: KenStupka on April 25, 2009, 09:12:56 AM

I have a LS-CHL996 LinkStation drive that I put in a safe when not in use.  I noticed that when I plug it in and turn the surge protector on, the drive light turns on briefly then goes off, even though the drive switch is off.  I am concerned that this brief surge might eventually hurt the electronic is the drive.

What is the best way to connect the drive to the power source?  Should I turn on the surge protector and set the drive switch to the on position before plugging the drive into the surge protector; or, am I being obsessive about nothing?

Thanks,

Ken

That behavior is normal. When the device is connected to power, it starts up enough to power the ethernet port.
