Title: Read Only
Post by: anonymons on April 24, 2009, 01:46:32 PM
   I have
TS-HTGL/R5 F/W 1.33

It has been working fine and well, until yesterday myself and my users are getting 'read only' permissions for the files they are opening.

I have the share set to be read/write have the group added and the individual user added to the read/write permissions.

Very odd sence this seems to be a new problem as of yesterday and nothing has changed. I tried a restart no luck.

Any advice? THanks in advance.

Update: Seems to be only affecting some of the sub directories.

We have clients on mac, xp and vista. The macs have no problem read/write.

Through the PCs how are the files being accessed? By hostname (ex. \\[Name_of_NAS]) or it's IP address?

They are accessed thru the network via the name not ip.

Try initializing the device through the user interface (Maintenance->Initialization->Restore). Come to think of it did you initialize after updating the firmware?

ok so i reset it and now am goign thru adding back in all the users. Not really the solution I would have hoped for. Is there a way to back up this config so I can just restore it if this happens again?

UPDATE: I just reset the box to default setting per your instructions above. Added back in the users and I get the same error. Added the users to groups and allowed the groups same problem. I remove the file premissions completly and I get the same problem.

If I move the stuff on the drive it allows access ie. \\xxx\x\x\x\x to \\xxx\x it allows access.
