Title: LS-X1.0 Network Access Speed
Post by: roncraw on April 17, 2014, 08:27:10 AM
I have three newer laptops with Giga-bit cards on a "dumb" Giga-bit router and my Buffalo LS-X1.0 which is said to also be Giga-bit capable, all connected via CAT-5e cables.  But when I upload or download images to/from any laptop and the NAS, I get slow response time.  These image files are typically about 10MB in size and it will take a few seconds to load a preview using Windows Explorer.  When I upload several images to the drive, Windows Explorer shows speed to be about 4 Mbps, sometimes less.  Since the switch has no logic to it, I don't think that or the cables are an issue.  And it happens on all the laptops, so I don't think it is them.  Is there something on the NAS that I should check or configure for Giga-bit speed?

Thanks,
RON
