Title: Error 30 On LS-X2.0TL
Post by: roselanaro on April 06, 2014, 08:50:59 PM
Hi

I had a network outage while transferring some itunes files and since that time my NASNavigator reports that I have an Error 30 on my  LS-X2.0TL. Messages read: An error occurred so hard drive 1 was removed from the RAID array. Replace hard drive 0. The number of bad sectors on disk 1 has reached emergency level.

I am not seeing any lights suggesting there is a problem and I am able to access the drive and files as a network drive on my PCs. Right now I am transferring files off the drive to another storage drive. Are there any drive testing softwares I can use with this drive to see if it really is bad and needs to be replaced or will reformatting be an option?

Thank you,
Rose L.

When it comes to the LS-X series, due to the single drive nature, sadly there is not much you can do...

If the drive is still under the 1 year warranty, call the support line and have them RMA the unit.

If it is outside of the RMA window, then if there really are bad sector's, you can try and go into the WebUI (admin interface) for the unit, and attempt to do the disk check operation, but I have yet to have one of my NAS units to lie to me about bad sectors*

If the drive really does have bad sector's, this unit DOES NOT have any way to replace the drive by easy means, sure you can image the drive inside onto a new one then use the updater to repartition it, but not only is it not supported by the tech line, its also very difficult to do properly...

*to test the error/save myself the cost of a new drive, I pull the drives out that show the bad sector error and put them into a PC and run HDD Regenerator, has always found bad sector's so far...
