3 days ago I decided to run a Disk Check on my LS-XL. While it was running overnight the power went out for a long period of time. Upon unplugging the LS-XL and then plugging it back in a few hours later, the device would boot, I could access the web menu, and I could see my NAS windows shares on my windows machines. However, when trying to access the shares, it would time out. FTP could not connect to any share and Linux SMB couldn't connect to the windows shares either. I have since soft and hard rebooted the LS-XL.
I decided maybe I should just run Disk Check again to see if that would fix the problem. It has now been running for 48 hours straight. It's a 2 TB system, I realize this should take quite a while.
Is 48 hours too long for Disk Check on a 2TB LS-XL? Will it fix my access problem? Should I just power off and attempt to re-install the firmware?
I am tempted to re-install firmware...
I really like this device, it has served me well over the past year.
Thanks in advance.

48 hours is a really long time even for a surface scan of a 2TB drive.
Do you have a backup of your data?
I have a backup of some but not all data.
Is there a chance my data is gone?? I hope not. Would I lose it if I reinstall firmware even though I am not deleting the partitions?
Thanks
If your drive is on it's way out, trying to reapply firmware won't make it delete data specifically, but if the drive is marginal, it could completely fail at any time.
So you are not taking -extra- risk, but it is entirely possible that if the drive is bad, it fails during an attempted update. Or at any other time, I'm afraid.
So long as I am not taking on extra risk by reinstalling firmware, that is what I want to hear. I probably will attempt that tonight if it is still running when I get home.
I've seen no other signs the drive is on its way out. No funny noises. It's only a year old, but I've seen worse happen sooner.
It's just odd that it's sort of hanging on Disk Check and locking me out of my partitions, even when Disk Check wasn't running after the power outage.
Well I tried but the updater program didn't detect it. So I just unplugged it and plugged it back in. Now I get nothing, no menu or anything. Still not detected by the program....
