Currently, we have a single TS5400D   Is it possible to use DFS and a second remote office TS5400D to create a single environment where:

1. Be notified that a file is "in use" or open even if in the other office.
2. Opening a file is unlikely done over the internet VPN. (SLOW)

I can understand that if I create a new file, the file will be saved local to me.  A remote user may then open it.  When he works on the file daily, it would be saved on the Terastation local to him after the first time he opened it.

Is this how it works?  This is the goal.  Are two Terastations capable to do this without help from any windows server?
