Title: Not able to access my TeraStation 7000
Post by: abhayphan on March 26, 2014, 07:32:33 AM
Hello,

I'm facing a problem with TeraStation 7000 series NAS. I'm not able to access the volumes from the storage. The device is not showing up in the NAS Navigator and not accessible by web interface. I'm able to ping the IP address of the NAS though. I can only access the device by connecting a keyboard and monitor to it. We have lot of data stored on this and can not afford to loose the data. Please help.

It is a Buffalo TS7000 series. 24 TB storage TS-2RZH24T12D. There is a single RAID configured with all 12 drives. Status of the error LED is off but the power LED is blinking in BLUE.

Please suggest steps to recover the device to operational state and salvage the data.

Thanks
Abhay

Check with support, not sure what to make of it to be honest.

Hello Davo,

I have escalated this problem to the support. They have suggested to try the "TSUpdater" utility with the latest  firmware version. But when I try to run the TSUpdater, it does not find the NAS!

While rebooting the NAS, I have observed several ERRORS loading shared library "/usr/local/bin/libbuffalo_bin" . I have attached a screenshot of these errors for your reference. When I try to access these files with admin login, it gives me error.

I think the firmware (linux) is corrupt and hence the device is not visible on the network.

In this situation, could you suggest some way to salvage my data? Please suggest some way so that we can get our data back.

Thanks a lot.
Abhay

Hello Davo,

One more question...... We have another box with same number of 2TB disks available. Can this (standby) box be of any use in salvaging the data from the failed one?

:-)
Regards
Abhay
