Title: How do I set up multiple backup jobs? (HD-PNTU3)
Post by: davecat on March 25, 2014, 07:54:55 PM
I had (& still do) a MiniStation (HD-PNTU3). I originally had another external disk (not Buffalo), which I also used for backups; I had a backup disk fail, so wanted backups to two different disks. So when the other drive failed, I decided to get a second Buffalo MiniStation disk, so that I'd have a consistent interface between the two (the Backup Utility). This seems to have been a bad move.

One of the disks is set up as drive G:, one as H:, so that I can have both on line simultaneously, but I normally wouldn't do that. I originally was backing up to G:.  If I plugged in H: (either by itself or with G:) I couldn't seem to set up to back up to it. I made sure G: was unplugged & disabled the backup, then (with H: only on line) set up to back up to H:.  It worked fine, doing its initial backup with no problems visible. But now I can't back up to G:.  If I don't have H: plugged in, hovering over the tray icon shows "Backup Destination H: Not Connected".  (Just as it originally showed "Backup Destination G: Not Connected".)

I really don't want to have to disable the backup & redo the settings every day.  It seems that there's got to be a way to have a job backing up G: & another one backing up H:, but I can't find out how.  I have searched & searched.  I got this second disk anticipating that this would be simple, but I guess it isn't.  What do I do?  Short of switching to some other backup system not tied to one disk manufacturer.

Thank you.
