Hi,
Can somebody write down missing steps for flashing ls-xhl? I mean what one should see for each step? I am having an issue who to do it proper way (especially since drive is given ip address, but it is not found in flash util).
Thanks.
If it is not found in the updater it could be because the unit already has had the FW flashed to it. In that case you will need to do a force update:
Booting into EM (Emergency mode):
Youwant to power down the unit. Then press and hold the reset button aspower the unit up (you can let go of the reset button after the unithas been booting for a few seconds).
Then plug the unitdirectly into your computer and open up the Nas Navigator. You thenwant to set your computer's IP address to match the subnet of the IP(first three sets of numbers must be the same and the last set must bea different number) the Navi is giving you, also make sure thesubnetmask is the exact same.
Force Updating Firmware:
- To force the firmware update to the unit, users will need to enable Debug support on the Updater.exe.
- Todo this open the lsupdater.ini or nasupdater.ini file from thefirmware. Whether you have nasupdater.ini or lsupdater.ini will dependon the firmware version.
- Open the .ini file and Change: Version check = 1 to Version Check = 0 then hit Enter twice and add the following two lines to the of the text file:
[SpecialFlags]
Debug = 1
- Save the .ini file and run the Updater.exe.
- Clickon the top left corner of the Updater window (on the small picture) andselect "Debug (D)". This will bring up the Debug options.
- Selecteither "Ignore Current Version", or "Force Update" and click OK. Thiswill have the program force the update even if it detects the sameversion was already installed.
Hi,
Thanks. But:
a) Unit won't power down unless i unplug it.
b) what do you mean by reset button. there is only one button on it - functional button.
c) how should the settings on my comp be set? dhcp for network card? some specific ip? I mean if i plug it in my computer, computer is not given ip automatically. Has to be given, otherwise it is 169.x.y.z something usually that microsoft gives.
d) When the Nas Navi will give me ip? my NAS gets ip from dhcp server (network switch). My problem here is how to match the navi and comp ip (and subnet) since i have no idea which ip will NAS take if there is not dhcp server, Nas can get ip from.
Thanks.
a) That is characteristic of a unit losing its boot image
b) The FUNCTION button should be held down 6 seconds prior to powering the device on. Continue to hold the button while powering on the NAS (the FUNCTION light will start blinking) release the FUNCTION button and hold it down for an additional 5 seconds.
c) Generally, your IP settings should be something like this:
Example:
IP of Computer: 192.168.1.100
IP of NAS: 192.168.1.101
When you're connected to a switch an IP address is not automatically handed out to whichever device is requesting it so most devices will default to requesting an IP from a computer on the network which usually turns out to be 169.xxx.xxx.xxx
d) The NAS Navi is a program that collects data on the IP the NAS is currently set to and refreshes about every 60 seconds. A network switch is not a DHCP server. If you're not sure how to change your IP address on your computer then post which OS you're running so I can give you the appropriate steps to do so. (Also, please be sure that your questions are clear part 'd' confused me a bit).
