I've had this set up on our server at church for 2-3 years and worked great and then our server crashed. We bought a new Dell PowerEdge 210 running Windows Server 2012 R2 so I went through the new install process again but now after attempting to detect the LinkStation it says that "setup cannot be completed" and to review my network settings and try setup again. I don't have any roles set up yet and even tried on my personal Windows 7 laptop at home and get the same error. I'm not getting any error lights and all appears well - drives and fan are spinning like normal, etc.
We have some critical backup files on the drive so any help getting access to the files once again is much appreciated.

Check your DHCP server and see is it giving it an IP address. Install the nas Navigator on the client OS, disable AV and firewall and see if it can detect it or if it is reporting any errors.
On the server it is not giving it an IP address. I turned the firewall and antivirus off and still could not complete setup.
I currently have it hooked up to my home laptop running Windows 7 and turned off antivirus and firewall in Windows and also on the router and still cannot complete setup.
What's the power LED doing?
