Hello,
I am in a bind trying to figure out what is up with my pair of TS5400D firmware 2.4 on both.  My primary unit "soldier1" has stopped responding to pings and shows a I33 ReplicationFailure message.  The 2 devices are sitting next to each other and if I connect to the secondary it tells me this is part of a replication pair and that I need to logout and use the primary.  What I am trying to understand is why the primary if it is unavailable did not already fail over?  If I run the NAS Navigator2 software it only sees my backup "soldier2", if you launch "Browse" from there you get the web interface again where you have to either logout or "Force Failover to stop".

At this point I am waiting on tier 2 support to get back to me but this holds all out user files and the downtime is painful to say the least.  The idea for purchasing 2 of these was so that this exact issue was avoided.  Other than the fact that the device does not answer pings or respond to the web interface [no surprise] it appears normal, I can toggle through the display showing the IP address, name of device, Ethernet speed, and the error message.

I am at the point I want to just power cycle it but I hate to do that without talking to someone first.

Any ideas?

First power cycle!!!!

OK still waiting for tier 2 support to call, so I tried the reboot what happened then was the second unit kicked in and took over.  The problem ended up being the switch the primary was connected to has either a bad port or it just went to sleep on us.  we are going to reload it over the weekend.

tier 2 support called finally, it seems it is not allowed to have replication and failover configured at the same time. [page 80 note 5 of manual]  It is one or the other, it seemed a bit odd to me as that is what we asked for when I called prior to purchase.  I am going to go with replication, and in the event of a fail of the primary I will manually reconfigure the secondary.
