Title: Twin brick bookends-- LS-XH2.0TL and LS-V2.0TL
Post by: cherns on March 09, 2014, 07:52:34 PM
My LS-V2.0TL died a few months ago--I don't remember the exact details, but there were red blinking lights--and my LS-XH2.0TL died a lingering death last week (error E30, red blinking light 3-0, I guess; I was able to transfer the contents to my arthritic LS-X3.0TL, the subject of a different post).  So now I have two nice dead NASs.

If possible, I would like to install new drives into them to revise them.  In various posts, I have read that this can be done, using TFTP images--except that TFTP images aren't available for these two models--or Error Mode (EC) or something.  (Plus some tricky cracking of the cases.)

Would it be possible to bring new life to these NASs, and, if so, how?

How much leeway is there for a replacement drive?  Would it be possible, for instance, to put in a 3 TB drive to replace the current 2 TB ones?

My recent Buffalotech experience has been pretty dis-heartening.  Any advice or comments would be gratefully appreciated.

What's the problem? Change the HDD, TFTP the unit to put it into em mode and then install the firmware.

Search the forum, there are literally step by step instructions on how to do all of this.
