Anyone ever have problems connecting the external HD via Firewire 800 to a mac? I have formatted the drive and it appears in finder. I can load files and access them. When I leave my computer and come back the next day, it can take minutes to access the files from my HD. I can still see it in finder but I just get the spinning beach ball. I restart the computer and it will take longer to start my computer. I have other external drives connected by firewire 400 and usb that work great but I want the 800 speed. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have the Combo 4 external drive with the usb firewire 400 and 800 and esata. I am having problems staying connected via firewire 800

I am having a similar problem with the 1 TB Combo 4, but not exactly. The drive is recognized under Mac OS 10.5, sytemem profiler shows it's recognized as being capable of transfer speeds of up to 800mps, but the speed to transfer files is identical to that of the firewire 400 connection. I tested the transfer with multiple sized files, timed them with just the 400 connected and just the 800 connected, and found transfer times virtually identical. Any idea what is going on here? I even rebooted between tests.

Mac OS 10.5, Dual 2.5 G5, 4gb Ram

Using supplied cables.
