Title: Help, lmay linkstation power down automatically)
Post by: mguillemette on April 19, 2009, 07:47:43 AM

Hello,

I tried an another test : the switch is on position Auto. When I turn on my PC the unit (linkstation Ls-CH500L) power up. But When I turn off my PC, the unit doesn't power down. And when my pc is turned on and my unit is power up, after 5 mn, the unit automatically power down (and nas Navigator is installed). It's true in any cases, switch position on or auto). WHY ?

Thanks for tour response.

First , 1.06 (default configuration) and next I have installed the firmware 1.07-065.

Install OK, but the unit always power down automatically after 5 mn

Try to reinstall the NAS NAvigator or use the version 2.15. The NAS Navi install a service, called NAS PM service on your computer. If this service is deactivated for what reason ever (tuning, etc) it works that way. If the firewall blocks the signal the sevice sends it works that way.

* reinstall or update the NAS Navigator

* make sure it is not blocked eg. try without firewall (you could disconnect the internet on the router if you  are concerned about security)

Hi,

Thanks for your response.

I connected my unit on a dedicated electrical outlet; all my PCs were powered down. I powered up my linkstation without connection with my LAN (stand-alone) and switch on position "ON". After 5 mn......the unit powered down itselft .

In position ON.... and it's not that just the HDDs do spin down, it is all off then (just to clarify) that is definitely not as it should be. In position ON it should be permanently ON; no matter what is going on in the network. Just make sure, the switch is not in a "between" position. When the unit is off, disconnect the power, move the switch up and down, move it to "ON", connect the power, see what happens.

If it does not help:

Open the we interface, Maintenance, initialisation, do a reset to default settings. Try. Do a firmware upgrade if possible. Try. Reset. If it does not work now call the support and go for exchange I think. Maybe someone else has another idea...

I did all this handling... and the scith is not between ON/Auto

I did a reset to default settings.

I did a firmware upgrade (1.06 -> 1.07-065)

But, after 5 mn, ... ;)

finally, I exchange my unit !

Thanks for your response.
