Title: LinkStation 421DE, copying within the NAS from Drive 1 to Drive 2
Post by: djrobinn on February 27, 2014, 12:38:18 PM
Hi folks:

Searched extensively but couldn't find a sureshot method to accomplish this.  Important to note that I'm using JBOD... one of my drives is 1.5 TB and the other is 3 TB.  Here are my questions:

1. What's the best and fastest way to copy around 800 GB from Drive 1 (1.5 TB) to Drive 2 (3.0 TB)?  I tried using Windows shares but it was way to slow
2. When I copy everything over from the 1.5 TB drive, I plan on removing this from the NAS as it is a 3 GB/s drive while the minimum requirements are 6 GB/s.  Can I leave the Drive 1 Bay empty and just have Bay 2 populated with the 3 TB drive or would I need to move the 3 TB drive to the Drive 1 Bay?

Thanks so much in advance...
