Title: LinkStation Quad 4TB stops accepting new files?
Post by: rhpatrick on April 17, 2009, 12:51:24 AM

I recently bought a Link Station Quad 4TB (Firmware 1.05) and have it configured for RAID5.  I have been trying to back up my home media server's audio files to it.  After copying ~246 GB to the drive, it seems like I can no longer copy more files to the device.  NASNavigator shows that the drive has only 246.4GB/2771.5GB (8.9%) worth of files on it.  Yet, when I drag and drop new folders into a folder on the device (using Windows Vista Business 64 bit), I get a "Preparing to Copy" dialog box and then it simply disappears and no copy is made.  I have tried creating a new empty folder but still the same result.

What the heck is going on?

Are you accessing the device by IP address or hostname? I think I might have seen this issue before.

The source device by IP, the NAS by hostname.  It appears that there was a problematic directory in the directories I was trying to copy...

I am asking because I am considering purchasing a LS Quad 4TB and am green/new to NAS and RAID
