I'm considering buying a Buffalo LinkStation Pro XHL. I'm located in France, but the product does not yet sell in the resellers mentionned on Buffalo website.
If I purchase the product from US-based online retailer, what is then the procedure to get tech support and warranty, for issues such as disk failure that this unfortunate customer experienced in the following review http://www.pcnation.com/web/details.asp?affid=306&item=Y89084#reviews

In reply to your difficult warranty question:
Our warranty only covers shipping to the US and Canada. If the product was purchased within the US a domestic RMA will be covered under warranty. However, Buffalo does/will not pay for international shipping charges for a device that was purchased in the US.
I am sorry if this influences your opinion/option to purchase our product, however those are the warranty policies that are set down by our corporate office.
