Title: DLNA Server Not Starting on LS421DE
Post by: Coles101 on January 23, 2014, 06:59:37 AM
I have set up my new Linkstation LS421DE with shared folders and created user accounts and access rights. I am trying to set up the media server but keep getting different error messages and it refuses to start.

If I try and initialize the server I get an error "No Response Received From NAS" and if I try and edit any of the settings I received "This Is An NAS-API Internal Error".

I have updated the firmware with version 1.30.

I have queried this with Buffalo Support but have so far been told:
1) Re-initialize NAS - (I had already done this and still got the error messages)
2) Open Web GUI using Firefox - (why would using a different browser help?)
3) Disable DHCP and set a static IP - (I had already done this before contacting them)

Can anybody else give me some more useful solutions?

Just to provide an update. I have now been told that I set the NAS up incorrectly and I need to take the HDD out, delete the partition and start again.

As the drive is working correctly apart from this issue and that I have already copied all my files onto the drive I am reluctant to do this unless it will 100% work.

Can somebody offer some advice please?

Hi,

I have the same issue. I tried to contact the support team, but didn't solved.
Did you solve this?

Thanks,

Nivaldo

Nivaldo

The Buffalo Support Team eventually told me that the HDD I was using was not supported (the 3TB version was supported but not the 4TB).

I replaced the 4TB drive with a old 2TB one I had and started again. It eventually worked but I still had issues with the BitTorrent Client and Web Access not working. Buffalo then told me the unit was faulty and would need to be replaced.

I was reluctant to start over again so kept it running along side my old Linkstation Live and now saving up to replace them both with a more reliable & stable manufacturer.
