Title: downloadmanager for bittorrent doesn't start on LS421DE
Post by: Fletje on January 19, 2014, 01:35:02 PM
Hello, i hope that someone can help me getting the embedded bittorrent software on the LS421DE to start. What happens is that, when trying to start bittorrent, the messages 'loading...' appears, but then nothing else happens anymore. I have a Sitecom 300N router. The port 9090 is forwarded to my Linkstation. I don't get any error-code, just the 'loading'-message. I tried everything but run out of inspiration for other options.

Please help!

I'm using firmware 1.30.

Are you downloading the torrent or are you using a magneted link?

have you never had it working or has it suddenly stopped working?

try reinitializing the client from the admin settings of the linkstation

I have the same issue. Never worked. Tried turning off and rebooting. Turned it back on and nothing just the loading screen.

First of all, reset the Linkstation via the admin page, Management -> Restore/Erase -> Restore Linkstation. And no, this does not erase the data.

That was the first thing I tried.

Then list everything else you have tried! No point in me making a suggestion if you have already done it!

I have tried resetting just the settings, erasing and starting from scratch, adjusting router and modem port forwards to make sure they allow 9090, oh and rebooting. Any other ideas?

Just to make extra sure (Shouldn't matter as everything else works) I just put the NAS in the DMZ. Still no change it still just sits there saying loading.

Reinstall the firmware while selecting "Delete User Data Partition"

Well I guess I just don't use it then. I can't delete the user data. I have over 3tb of edited video that I can't erase and can't store anywhere else.

Figured that "erase user data partition" would erase user data partition.... If I had the $$ to buy more another for back up I would not have bought this but rather a WD.

Updated to 1.31-0.92 and deleted user partition. No change.

Hello, everyone.

I faced same problem in January and solved it by changing browser to Chrome.

Recently dug a little bit deeper a here is, what I found:

Problem depends on a browser and appears in IE10 with KB2909210 update installed and IE11.
Developer console output:

SCRIPT5009: 'dimensions' is undefined
File: mootools.js, Line: 5962, Column: 4

Chromium-based browsers work fine and Firefox shows same symptoms (but different error) with Adblock Plus EasyPrivacy subscription enabled.

So, temporary solution is to switch to any other browser but IE and wait, till developers fix that error.

Adding the IP address of the 'station to the compatibility mode list fixes odd stuff like this sometimes as well.

But yes, try on multiple browsers. if it gets you the UI but nver finishes loading, its a browser issue.

You have GOT to be kidding me... I was scratching my head wondering why the heck Firefox didnt work (but IE and chrome worked fine)... disabled Adblock Plus and sure enough, it loaded...
