First of all Im very much new to both these forums and to Buffalo systems.

My friend and I bought ourself 2 Buffalo TS4400D Terastations and a bunch of WD Red 3tb drives.

The first Buffalo went fine. We installed the OS on the main disk at put in the other 3 disks. Then we formated them and all went well.

The other station though we put in all the disk to start with (according to the manual that was with the system) and installed the OS. For some reason it went quite wrong and the 2 of the disks we used the TS would not read. We then unplugged the 2 wds and formated them into NTFS on a Windows machine to test if they where actually working (no problem easy format and checks)

Now we have installed the wd disk in the terastaion Again and it finds it and we put told it to format.

Now my question is...how long would this take? ...we tried once yesterday and it took 18 hours before we gave up. Now we are trying another disk ands its on 1½ hour already.

The terastation says its formating them and there is *very* *very* slow contact to the system via the webbrowser.

Is it really true that it takes so many hours just for 1x 3tb drive?

Are we doing something wrong?

If this is common knowledge or I somehow posted the wrong place please forgive me and point me towards the right place
